Counselling
There are many times in our lives when we just need someone to talk to. When we are suffering from bereavement or stress, when a relationship is no longer working, maybe your self confidence is low or you just want to look at the direction your life is taking. It as these times that all kinds of thoughts and feelings arise – anger, grief, guilt sadness, despair or confusion to name a few. Talking about these feelings with a friend or family member can be very valuable but sometimes it is easier to speak to someone who is separate from you and the situation and this is where counselling comes in. Counselling is not about giving you easy answers or advice – it is not about having a cup of tea and a chat – a counsellor will not tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. Counselling is about listening – listening to what you are feeling and it is about you. Counselling aims to provide support to assist you to: Understand your thoughts, your feelings and your responses. Understand and cope with the reactions of others. Readjust and refocus your life. Find yourself and take control of your life. And to help you to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
