Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnosis?First hypnosis is not at all mysterious. You may well have been in a hypnotic state many times in your life - when you are fully engrossed in a book or a film, driving down a road when you suddenly become aware of where you are, just before you go to sleep at night, all these are examples of a hypnotic state which you don't realise is hypnotic because it is a fairly normal and natural state. It is a relaxed state of mind in which you allow the therapist to make suggestions to your conscious and subconscious mind. it is your decision to allow these suggestions or to reject them. Back to TopCan I be made to do something I don't want to do?There are three things which must be in place to allow hypnosis to work. These are: concentration, emotion and agreement. Without all three the hypnosis will not work so it is not possible for a suggestion that the client does not agree with to be forced upon them. You cannot be made to violate your own values, morals or beliefs. Back to TopWhat can hypnotherapy help?A few of the different types of problems which can be treated with the use of hypnosis are: Smoking, Confidence, Eating disorders, Panic attacks, Anxiety attacks ,Stress related problems, Relaxation, Concentration, Past life regression, Nail biting, Phobias, Depression, Assertiveness, Self esteem - to name but a few. Back to TopCan anyone be hypnotised? The short answer is yes anyone who wants to be hypnotised can be - however it may take longer for some than for others Back to TopHow does it work?Hypnosis is a simple process that helps you to quiet and focus your mind in order to create a link between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. In much the same way as a computer is programmed we programme ourselves throughout our lives to believe many things about what we can and can’t do. Hypnotherapy can change the programme and these changes are made by the hypnotherapist suggesting ideas and concepts to your subconscious and allowing your subconscious to decide if these ideas and concepts would be useful to you. Back to TopWill I be aware of what's going on?Yes - you will be aware of the noises around you, what the hypnotherapist is saying and anything else which may be important to you and you will be able to wake up at anytime if you want to. Back to TopThe hypnotherapy would normally take place at my office in Lincoln - however private sessions can be arranged at different locations if necessary and subject to negotiation Back to Top
